Have you ever looked at a piece of art and gotten that tingly feeling in the pit of your stomach? Something about it just spoke to you? I've always been so intrigued by the circus- the costumes, the drama, the colors & especially the acrobats. This poster has it all- the perfect balance of playful whimsy & grown up palette. It just feels right.

... quirky vintage matchboxes! Loving the simplified color schemes in contrast with the detailed character in each cover. I'm amazed at how evolved branding & packaging was at the turn of the century- I vote we go back to these kinds of designs. Striking, colorful and effective.
I'm off from work today and it couldn't be more beautiful outside. I'll be spending the afternoon exploring my city, taking lots of pretty pics and maybe even a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum. The Posters of Paris exhibit is featured until September 9th- I've already seen it twice, but a third time couldn't hurt, right? Hope you're having a splendid day!
I recently came across covers of vintage Life Magazines and was left practically breathless. Not only are these illustrations extraordinarily beautiful, they portray women as strong individuals in all settings of life [read: not just in the kitchen]. Beautiful women with grace, poise, and an adventurous spirit.

I'm lucky enough to live right across the street from the Inova art gallery in Milwaukee's East Side. It occupies the ground level of an expansive former warehouse- a charming building with weathered red brick and old-school grid windows. I like to pass by in the mornings, if I'm up and at 'em early enough, to see if the artists are hard at work transforming the space into a new exhibit, no doubt fantastic and inspiring. The additional four floors above are home to artist studios. I've had never given much thought to a studio space all my own until I took the full tour a few months ago. Needless to say, the idea has really been sticking with me... wouldn't this be lovely?
I've gotten a few emails asking what happened to Color Therapy Thursdays. I didn't realize they had such a following! Well, I'm happy to oblige. Jade green has always been a favorite of mine- natural, yet trendy and perfect for a rich pop against clean neutrals.
